What People Have to Say About Capital Brass!

Bill Flaker

Drum Corps World review

8/29/08

Capital Brass used a jazz musical book and tossed out red foam balls to the crowd at the end of their opening  number. Hunting Wabbits was a tribute to cartoon music, nicely done and only lacked Elmer Fudd to be complete this selection. The driving dance number Hey, Pachuco showcased seven talented sopranos across the stage to close out a strong showing.

It was also cool to see Kiltie legend Kenny Norman performing with Capital Brass who played one of my favorite arrangements of the evening, Pachuco

Capital Brass! – I enjoyed your laid-back concert style with the seated players. ......The closer “Hey Pachuco” was a wonderful way to end the performance. You guys were having fun up there and you could tell.

Thank you again. My wife thought you guys did a great job. She didn't really know who you were.  She just said "the guys in the hawaiian shirts (SNAP!) were really good".

....displaying exceptional talent with their brass ensemble ... their ensemble appeared THREE times! ... and what they presented definitely whetted everyone's appetite for future shows they'll be appearing at....

Capital Brass definitely showed the crowd what quality, versatility and GE is all about ... I was VERY impressed with your THREE performances (all different)...

Sky's Alumni and the BHOF partnered in this venture and you guys made it a success ... building this new wave I&E circuit is a challenging task but, having groups like yours in the fold can only mean success for upcoming shows in Bayonne and Bridgeport.

All the best

I Hadn't seen that!!!! (the documentary film)

It's AWESOME! I absolutely love it! It's captures everybody's personality so well; as well as the corps in general!!

Appearing third was Capital Brass! from Albany, NY, delivering what was arguably its strongest performance to date. This corps features a big band motif, which is clearly a crowd pleaser. We overheard several folks commenting on how much more polished the corps was since its showing in Bridgeport last month. Keep up the great work.

Capital Brass....I saw you guys warming up in the room......MAN....WHAT A SOUND!!!!!! Forget about the upright tuba garbage......use whatever horns you like. Just continue to put out that sound, and for sure you are destined for great things yourself!!! GREAT Trumpet player....WHEW....can he play!!! Great job!

“Capital Brass” all the way from Albany, NY. This impacting brass ensemble gave our kids something to aspire to. The selections of  “Concierto De Aranjuez” & “Sway “ brought a sweet taste of variety to the show.

Received a call from one of the Judges last night, the minute he got home, just so he could tell me the news...

He was absolutely raving about Capitol Brass's maturity and depth of sound....
