Rocco J. Teta


 
TROY - Rocco J. Teta, 72, of Lansingburgh, passed away suddenly at St. Mary’s Hospital Emergency Room on Sunday, October 25, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.

 
Born and educated in Troy, he was the son of the late Pompie and Stella (Goyette) Teta.

 
He managed the former Food Circus in Cohoes for over 40 years and upon retirement he worked for the Hannaford Supermarket in Lansingburgh for five years prior to his illness.

 
He was actively involved in The Killman and The Interstatesmen drum and bugle corps and also with the old, former Troys Boys Club corps.

 
He was also actively involved, especially at Christmastime, purchasing gifts for needy children which were distributed through the Cohoes Community Center.

 
He is survived by his loving children Rel (Erin) Teta, Rocco Teta, Ruthie Teta, Rene (JR) Teta Inglis and Randy (Carla) Teta, all of Troy, and Jason Antoniak of Latham; and his former wife Karen Teta. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, Kyle Ryan Jr. Rachael, Inglis James Teta, Jarred, Alexandra, Hayden, Logan, Kennedy and Sophie Teta. Also survived by three sisters, Delores Phelps of Latham, Marygrace (Paul) Caglione of Cohoes and Dee (Gary) Farrigan of Latham; and his brother William ‘Bill’ (Anne) Teta of Schenectady. He was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy (Teta) Chonski and Sandra (Teta) Walraed. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins; a cherished aunt, Mary Pitanello who prayed for him every day; his best friend Jim Laporte, who frequently kept in contact through the years; and his feline friend Puddy Cat.

 
The funeral services and calling hours will be private at the convenience of the family.

 
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Reuben Dialysis Center of Troy in Rocco’s name.
